Joining can be as simple as buying or borrowing a supported LoRa device, flashing it with the official MeshCore Web Flasher, and pairing it with the MeshCore app.

Companion Node

A companion node is a small LoRa radio that connects to a phone, tablet or computer running a compatible MeshCore application.

Beginner hardware example

Heltec WiFi LoRa 32 V3 is listed by the official MeshCore Web Flasher as a supported companion-device route. Check the flasher before buying, because supported hardware and firmware roles change over time.

Companion workflow

Connect the device by USB, open the Web Flasher, select the exact hardware, install Companion firmware, pair it with the MeshCore app, then select the default MeshCore radio settings: EU/UK (Narrow) — 869.618 MHz / BW 62.5 kHz / SF 8 / CR 8.

No Phone Required

Some MeshCore-compatible devices have screens and keyboards and can act as self-contained messaging terminals.

Repeater hosting

Help Strengthen OXMESH

A MeshCore repeater receives mesh packets and relays them onwards. Repeaters are especially valuable in good radio locations with height, clear surroundings and reliable power.

Height and clear RF paths can often matter more than simply adding more transmit power.
